New movie July 16th, 2004:    I, Robot

No anchovies, please.

A most excellent movie!

I, Robot is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and a must-have-on-DVD.  It's by far the best movie (yet) about artificial sentience, and leaves no doubt in my mind that people will (eventually) accept that an artificial life form can be sentient.

The visuals are so real, you can forget they're CGI.  It was spooky to see anthropomorphic robots act so realistically, and scary to realize what they could do!  Other people in the theater must have been impressed... once the movie got going, there were almost no sounds in the theater!  People were so absorbed in the movie, they were virtually silent.  And they walked out with almost no talking... never experienced that before.  Must have scared the crap outta them.... which surprised me.

Can this many people be waking up to our imminent future?  I sure hope so...

Awesome site, with tons of great pictures from the history of Sci-Fi.  I'm amazed to discover that the concepts of Robots, Cyborgs, AI, and A-Life have been around for literally centuries!  I wouldn't have guessed that one...

Of course, a clear picture of the technology to achieve these advances is only now coming to fruition.  But, I am surprised and humbled by the realization that people have long imagined what I considered new concepts.

I think this speaks strongly to the idea that transcendence (know known as the Singularity) is inevitable... it's been on our collective minds for a very long time!  We are only now close to doing it.

Wow, I just had another epiphany!  Gotta love those mind-orgasms!   8^)
