Carl Tolbert Cooper, 80, of rural Riverton died at 11:45 p.m. July 4 at Humana Hospital Springfield after a long illness. Born July 30, 1904, In Elizabeth, Ind., he was the son of Ira W. and Lucinda Hoke Cooper. He married Florence McFadden in 1925. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Susanna Theobald and Mrs. Laura Cravens; one brother, Ralph Cooper, and one great-grandson. Mr. Cooper was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church and the Sangamon County Farm Bureau. He had been a director of the Woodford County Bank, El Paso. Surviving are his wife, Florence; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Oller and Mrs. Mary Moody both, of rural Riverton, and Mrs, Elinor Drake of El Paso; one sister, Mrs. Helen Constant of Williamsville; 12 grandchildren and l5 great-grandchildren. Services were at Bisch Memorial Home at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Patricia Reid and Dr. Frederick Roblee officiating. Burial was in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Fullenwider Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, in charge of arrangements.

His body was interred 8 Jul 1985 in Mechanicsburg, Sangamon Co., Illinois, Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

He married Luella Florence MCFADDEN in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 16 Sep 1925. Carl and Florence were married in the manse of the Westminster Presbyterian Church at 533 S. Walnut, Springfield, Illinois. Witnesses were probably people at the manse. There was no wedding reception or wedding trip, and they probably had to go home to do chores after the ceremony.

He was a student in Williams Twp, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 1918. School: Prairie School. Carl attended the country Prairie School and probably graduated from eighth grade there. This school was located at the northwest corner of an intersection in eighter section 13 or section 14 of Williams Township, Sangamon County.

Carl was listed as a member of a church in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 14 Nov 1920. Carl was baptized into membership at the Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church by Rev. Kelso.

At 22 years of age Carl became the father of Dorothy Louise COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, 29 Sep 1926. At 26 years of age Carl became the father of Elinor Jane COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 10 Jul 1931. At 32 years of age Carl became the father of Mary Alice COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, 17 Jan 1937. He resided in R. R., Riverton, Sangamon Co., Illinois 3 July 1985.

Carl Tolbert COOPER and Luella Florence MCFADDEN had the following children:
