Clara Belle Drake was born at Beason, Illinois, on October 14, 1889, the daughter of David Robinson and Elizabeth Mauck Robinson. She passed away at 8:50 a.m. on December 20, 1969 at the Jackson Heights Nursing Home in Farmer City. She graduated from the 10th grade at the North Bethel School near Beason and then attended what is now Illinois State University at Normal, Illinois. This was followed by twelve years as a teacher in various rural schools in Dewitt and Logan Counties. On February 22, 1920 she was united in marriage with Martin Bogarte Drake and they took up housekeeping at Cornland, Illinois. They remained in Cornland until 1950 when they moved to Farmer City. Mr. Drake passed away August 12, 1961. Mrs. Drake is survived by one brother, Andrew Robinson of Beason, a step-son, Michael W. Drake of Chestnut and by six sons: David and Robert of Beason, Donald of Godfrey, Richard of Farmer City, George of El Paso, and Andrew of Morton. She is also survived by twelve granddaughters and twelve grandsons, and by six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Hutton and Ella Harman, and by an infant sister. Mrs. Drake was a member of the United Methodist Church at Farmer City and taught the Friendship Class for several years. She was also a member of the Louie Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the W.C.T.U., the Santa Anna Homemakers Extension Unit, and the Woman's Society of Christian Service. As a teacher, mother, and grandmother, most of her life was spent with a strong awareness for the needs of others. This concern for others was evident by her active participation in the life of her church, which was so important to her until the very end.

Her body was interred 23 Dec 1969 in Mount Pulaski, Logan Co., Illinois.

She married Martin Bogarte DRAKE in Beason, Logan Co., Illinois, 22 Feb 1920. (See Martin Bogarte DRAKE for the children resulting from this marriage.)

She was a student in Beason, Logan Co., Illinois, 1899. School: North Bethel School. * * * * * Clara Belle and siblings attended school at North Bethel School, which was a country school at the extreme northwest corner of the northeast quarter of section 23, T20N, R1W, Oran Township, Logan County, Illinois. The school was about 3/4 mile west of their home. From the intersection of the Beason-Atlanta road and Route 10, go east one mile, then two miles north to the intersection of the roads. The school was on the southeast corner of that intersection. This according to the 1893 Logan County platbook.

At 32 years of age Clara became the mother of Donald Louis DRAKE in Cornland, Logan, Illinois, 22 Aug 1922. At 33 years of age Clara became the mother of Robert Eugene DRAKE in Cornland, Logan, Illinois, 8 Oct 1923. At 35 years of age Clara became the mother of Richard Kenneth DRAKE in Cornland, Logan, Illinois, 17 Jan 1925. At 37 years of age Clara became the mother of George Edward DRAKE in Cornland, Logan Co., Illinois, 1 Nov 1926. At 38 years of age Clara became the mother of Andrew Vincent DRAKE in Cornland, Logan, Illinois, 12 Jan 1928.
