DEATH OF IRA W. COOPER Former Resident of Harrison County Victim of Heart Trouble at His Home in Illinois. Aged
Fifty Three Years. Ira W. Cooper died at his home near Buffalo Hart, Illinois, December 15, 1924, after a long illness of heart
trouble.
We had a brief mention of his death in last week's Democrat, since when we received the following from Mrs. Fannie E. Hoke, of near New
Albany, who has been visiting the Cooper family for several weeks:
"Ira W. Cooper was born June 15, 1871 at New Albany, Ind., and died at his home near Buffalo Hart, Ill., Dec. 15, 1924, of dilation of the
heart.
He has been a resident of this community twenty years, moving here from Indiana. He was a member of Wolf Creek Methodist church and the
I.O.O.F. No. 1027, Buffalo Hart.
Surviving are his wife, formerly Lucinda Hoke, five children, Ralph of Dawson, Mrs. Everett Theobald, Mrs. Walker Cravens, both of Buffalo
Hart, Helen and Carl at home, and also three grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Emma Barger of New Albany, Indiana, and a host of other
relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home and interment at Mechanicsburg cemetery."
Editor: Mr. Cooper spent most of his life in Posey Township (Harrison County, Indiana) this county, prior to his removal to Illinois, with
his family, twenty years ago, his parents having removed from New Albany to a farm near Elizabeth when Ira was a small boy. He was a near
neighbor of the editor of The Democrat, as was his wife, formerly Miss Lucinda Hoke.
Mr. Cooper was an honest, industrious man, and he and his family succeeded him well after going to Illinois. The writer visited Mr. and
Mrs. Cooper last August on our way home from Quincy, Illinois. They owned a fine farm of nearly 200 acres.
Mr. Cooper has numerous relatives and friends in this county who will regret to learn of his death. * * * * * * *

Ira W. Cooper, on Monday, Dec. 15, 1924, midnight, from dilation of heart, at the age of 53 years, 6 months.
The deceased was born in Southern Indiana, and lived there until 20 years ago, when he moved to this community.
He is survived by his wife and five children, Ralph, of Dawson, Mrs. Everett Theobald, and Mrs. Walker Cravens, of Buffalo Hart, and Carl
and Helen at home; also one sister, Mrs. Emma Barger, of Elizabeth, Indiana.
He was a member of Wolf Creek M.E. Church and of Buffalo Hart Lodge I.O.O.F. No. 1027.
Funeral services conducted at home by Rev. Irwin, of Decatur, at 11 a.m., Thursday Dec. 18, and interment made in Mechanicsburg cemetery.
Ira W. Cooper was a man of sterling worth, of strong character, and one whose word was as good as his bond. He held the respect and esteem
of his neighbors and friends, and the remembrance of his fine Christian character will be his children's greatest heritage. *

IRA W. COOPER FUNERAL IS HELD AT BUFFALO HART Buffalo Hart, Dec. 18 -- The funeral of Ira W. Cooper, who died here
Monday, was held this morning at the residence, followed by burial in Mechanicsburg cemetery. Mr. Cooper lived in this community 20 years.
He was a member of the Wolf Creek Methodist Church and Buffalo Hart Odd Fellow's Lodge. Surviving are his widow and two sons Ralph, Dawson,
and Carl at home; three daughters, Mrs. Everett Theobald and Mrs. Walker Cravens, both of Buffalo Hart, and Helen, at home; one sister, Mrs.
Emma Barger, New Albany, Indiana, and three grandchildren. His body was interred 18 Dec 1924 in
Mechanicsburg, Sangamon, Illinois, Mechanicsburg. Ira and Lucinda Cooper are buried in Section B. This part is north of Drive #1 and
East of the Chapel. They are in buried in B-148.
He married Lucinda Ellen HOKE in Harrison Co, Indiana, 17 Oct 1894. This marriage record is in Book M,
page 466, of the Harrison Co., Indiana marriage book.
At 24 years of age Ira became the father of Ralph Raymond COOPER in Elizabeth, Harrison Co., Indiana, 20 Jul 1895. At 25
years of age Ira became the father of Susanna Marie COOPER in Elizabeth, Harrison Co., Indiana, 20 Sep 1896. At 27 years
of age Ira became the father of Laura Eloise COOPER in Elizabeth, Harrison Co, Indiana, 22 Jul 1898. He bought
property in Harrison Co., Indiana, 2 Apr 1904. An ordinary deed was files from Ira W. Cooper to Isaac Cooper dated 4-2-1904, $500,
NE1/4 of SE1/4 section 7, T5R5, 40 acres Book H4, page 83.
He bought property in Harrison Co., Indiana, 2 May 1904. An ordinary deed from Ira W. Cooper to Samual H. Johnson, dated
5-2-1904, pt. of NE1/4 Section 7, T5R5, 30 acres, $500, book H4, page 118.
At 33 years of age Ira became the father of Carl Tolbert COOPER in Elizabeth, Harrison Co., Indiana, 30 Jul 1904.
He emigrated, Nov? 1904. Point of origin: nr. Elizabeth, Indiana.
Ira Cooper moved his family to a rental farm house at the northeast corner of the "T" intersection at the center of Section 24, Williams
Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. This is the same house occupied by Louise Oller during the 1950's to 1980's. His son Carl was 3
months when they moved. The family moved by train.
He bought property in Harrison Co, Indiana, 26 May 1905. A deed from Ira W. Cooper to William J. Rhodes, dated 5-26-1905,

were tenants on 200 acres owned by the Langston estate. They had been in the county since 1905.
At 36 years of age Ira became the father of Helen Belle COOPER in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon, Illinois, 22 Feb 1908.
He resided in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon, Illinois 1915. The Sangamon County, Illinois directory for 1915-1916 lists Ira Cooper,
Buffalo Hart R 36, 3 N W, phone Inter Williamsville rents 200 acres.

In 1917 Ira Cooper moved his family to the northwest quarter of Section 30, Buffalo Hart Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. This site is
where Carl and Florence Cooper lived from their marriage to their deaths. Ira's family moved here from just northeast of the center of
Section 24, Williams Township, Sangamon County, Illinois.
Ira was listed as a member of a church in Sangamon County, Illinois, 14 Dec 1924. Ira and Lucinda were members of the Wolf
Creek Methodist Church which is located about 3 miles west of the house (that Carl Cooper owned at his death) on the Sherman road to the
"T" with the Spaulding road, then about 1/2 mile south. It was near Wolf Creek.
He resided in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon County, Illinois 1924. Ira Cooper owned 194 acres in the northwest quarter of section 30
in Buffalo Hart Township, Sangamon County, Illinois, where they lived.

the Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church. Later she married Theobald.
At 22 years of age Susanna became the mother of Paul Eugene THEOBALD 3 Nov 1918. At 24 years of age Susanna became the
mother of Arthur Ray THEOBALD 4 Mar 1921. At 28 years of age Susanna became the mother of Ivan Wayne THEOBALD 14 Feb
1925. At 30 years of age Susanna became the mother of William Everett THEOBALD 5 Apr 1927.
Laura was listed as a member of a church in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 14 Jul 1918. Laura joined the Buffalo Hart
Presbyterian Church. Later she married Cravens.
At 25 years of age Laura became the mother of Carmen Eloise CRAVENS in Sangamon County, Illinois, 8 Dec 1923. At 28
years of age Laura became the mother of William Forest CRAVENS 13 May 1927. At 38 years of age Laura became the mother of
Lloyd Willis CRAVENS 29 Aug 1936.
Helen was listed as a member of a church in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 14 Jul 1918. Helen became a member of
Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church. She was dismissed to M.E. on March 1926.
At 28 years of age Helen became the mother of Melvin Glen CONSTANT in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, 23 Sep 1936. At
34 years of age Helen became the mother of Janet Gail CONSTANT 23 Jul 1942.
