86. William Bernard⁵ BARRY (Michael⁶, David⁷) was born in FancyCreekTwp., Sangamon Co., Illinois 25 Jan 1854. William died 27 Dec 1928 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, at 74 years of age. RESOLUTION ON THE DEATH OF WILLIAM B. BARRY (from the K. of C. Council News)

Brother William B. Barry was born on January 25th, 1854 in Springfield, Illinois. Brother Barry was very successful in the business world, for many years he was engaged in the horse shoeing business, and the last fifteen or twenty years was engaged in the furniture business. After a short illness borne with patience and resignation to the will of God, was called to his eternal reward on December 27, 1928. Brother Barry was very active in social and civic affairs and especially so in his Church, and Parish in which he lived. Funeral services were held from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Right Reverend James A. Griffin officiating. Bishop Griffin also preached the funeral services.

Be it resolved by Springfield Council Number 364, Knights of Columbus: That in the death of Brother Barry this Council has lost a member who was always active, and always cheerfully helpful, always a Christian gentleman and a credit to his church, the community and to his Council. We have lost a true friend, a citizen who was throughout his life an example for good, and a souce of inspiration to others because of his active interest in affairs, his faithful performance of all duties and his pleasant kindly attitude toward all men; be it Resolved also: That a copy of this resolution be sent to the family of our deceased brother with whom this Council feels a keen sympathy and for whom it hopes that grief may be lessened. . . . . . . .

W. B. Barry operated a furniture store at 212 South Second Street, Springfield, Illinois. He owned the building and the other half was a restaurant. After he died, his sons Mike & Tom owned the building half each. There was a stairway going up dividing the building into their respective halves.

90 iv. Thomas W. BARRY was born in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois 6 Dec 1888. Thomas died 2 Apr 1942 at 53 years of age. He married Mary WOODS.
