Other Work
Capturing a Whale This painting is an original creation, and the frame is part of a vintage pole screen hand grained in my workshop. The image comes from a woodcut in the 1843 Bentley’s Pictorial Reader. Rensselaer Bentley owned our home during the 1840s and was an author of schoolbooks and notable personage in mid-19th century Rensselaer County. Currently in an East Greenbush, NY collection. SOLD
Sheep Washing Another work based on a nineteenth century woodcut from a Rensselaer Bentley reader. An interesting depiction of a portion of the ‘sheep-to-shawl’ process that is rarely considered- someone had to clean up the sheep a bit before shearing. Oil on canvas, 16” x 20.” $450
As this fire bucket demonstrates, decorative painting can be applied to all sorts of furniture and period accessories
