Stock: While we have thousands of books in stock, the real answer here is that if it's available, we are happy to get it for you. We use all major distributors, as well as hundreds of publishers, and make every effort to keep your costs low. We do not have the resources to put up a full-service search page. Instead, we say that most special orders of books currently in print are 20% off. The latest James Patterson? Yes. 20% off. The third Terry Goodkind book? Yes. 20% off. Wendell Berry's Mad Farmer Poems, John Neff's Katahdin, or the Poetic Edda? Yes, 20% off. And so on...if you call or e-mail us with your needs, including an isbn if possible, we'll get back to you quickly with details. You'll pay a decent price, with low shipping costs, get personal service, and have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to support a genuine independent bookstore!
Note to the above comments: we are gradually adding paypal buttons for specific books (see our Randall Probert and Lynn Plourde pages), but this is not possible with the countless books that are available. Just ask for it!
Shipping: For orders sent to the continental U.S. our shipping is extremely affordable. Multiple book orders are shipped at $3.00 for the first book, and .75 for each additional book. All special order sales are final. To keep these costs low, we send by USPS book rate, which is not insured or trackable. We guarantee that we will mail your order. Since we have had cases (2 out of many hundreds) of orders not arriving at their destination, or taking longer than expected, we can not guarantee delivery. For insured mail with verified delivery, upon request we can quote a shipping rate.
(Note: in the case of especially heavy books, we will charge the exact shipping cost, which may be more than our standard rate.)
Optional Priority Mail: You may specify priority mail. Shipping one book is $5.50/paperback or $6.50/hardcover. Additional books in the same package add $1.50 per paperback or $2.00 per hardcover. (Oversized books may cost more to ship.)
Discounts: Unless we notify you of a change, all mail-order and e-mail order books are discounted 20% off the list price. There are some exceptions among our small-press Maine titles, for example. Maine residents add 5% sales tax. For details about book fairs, schools, libraries, and other large accounts, click here.
To place an order, e-mail us your name, the titles, ISBN numbers, and prices of the books you would like. Also include your complete mailing address (we ship through the post office), and your e-mail address. We will respond with a confirmation e-mail which will tell you the exact amount due.
