A Train Trip on the Milwaukee
A trip on an electric powered train from Othello to Cle Elum with Gene Lawson engineer on the E-25 with Ed Austin taking photographs and Don Hunter recording audio.  June 28th 1970.
"A Historic Trip With The
Milwaukee Road Electric Locomotive E-25"

I received pictures that I never knew existed until after the CleElum Depot Grand Opening on July 1, 2006. This was when I met and talked with a railfan photographer Ed Austin. Then come to find out he and about 3 other railfans including Don L. Hunter who does sound recordings and they wanted to take pictures of our train. We were leaving Othello on Sunday June 28, 1970. We were going to double our train from Beverly to Kittitas and I was the Engineer on this train. When we arrived at Beverly they asked me if they could ride over with us on the first half of the train. It being on Sunday I said sure and told them to stay in the rear cab and not go back in the unit where the high voltage was. They said they would stay in the cab. This was history in the making as the electrics only were used two more years. Just think 36 years had gone by and the gentleman, Ed Austin was only 21 years old at that time. Now he is 57 and we sure had a good visit.
