Founded in 1978, Adirondack Triumph Association, Inc. is a group of enthusiasts who have joined together to promote interest in, and the preservation and enjoyment of, Triumph Motor Cars. Membership in Adirondack Triumph Association is open to owners of all makes of British cars and motorcycles, the club having evolved from a "marque specific" club to one centered on the British motor enthusiast. All that is required is an interest in meeting new friends and enjoying the sport of motoring. Membership is based primarily in upstate New York -- the Adirondack Region and the Mohawk and Hudson river valleys.

ATA holds several driving and social events throughout the year ranging from serious competition to casual social get-togethers. The emphasis is on having fun.

The events sponsored by ATA are designed to emphasize participation and promote driving the cars as they were intended to be driven.

What kinds of Events?

Rallyes -- There are two basic types of Rallyes; both types are geared toward novices and experienced competitors alike. Rallyes are run on public roads by following route instructions provided by the club. A rallye is not a race.

• Time/Speed/Distance (TSD) Rallyes involve careful following of route and speed instructions to cover a prescribed course in an ideal time. In TSD Rallyes, penalties are assessed for being too early as well as too late and each rallye is divided into sections (usually referred to as "legs"), scored separately so that one mistake doesn't necessarily affect your overall performance.
• "Gimmick" Rallyes may involve puzzles, riddles, maps, hare 'n' hound or other methods of keeping driver and navigator on course.

Shows -- For nearly 10 years, ATA hosted the area's largest all-British car and motorcycle show -- British Motorfest. In 1999, the show moved from summer to fall and expanded to include all imports. In 2002, British Motorfest returned as a summertime, all-British Show featuring vendors, entertainment, door prizes and popular choice voting. For the last several years, British Motorfest has been held at the Saratoga Auto Museum.

Tech seminars -- ATA holds tech seminars each year to help members make common repairs and resolve problems that are not covered in the manuals. In 1997, we began a program to help members get cars that have been down for repair back on the road.

Tours -- Each year there is at least one guided driving tour, usually held as the annual Fall Foliage Tour. Previous tours have gone to such exciting venues as the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain and the MG Museum in Westminster, Vermont.

Autocross -- Once called gymkhanas and more recently known as Solo events, autocrosses are designed as tests of driver skill. Entrants compete against cars of similar performance, one at a time on a "miniature road course" marked off in a large parking lot by pylons. It is not a test of sheer speed, but of ability. These events provide a safe and inexpensive way to improve your driving skills and explore the performance capabilities of your car. Expensive equipment and long experience are not required to enjoy autocrossing.

Funkhana -- Similar to Autocrosses, but with much less emphasis on competition. A typical funkhana might find a two-person team picking tennis balls off the tops of pylons and backing through the same course replacing the balls on the pylons or navigating a simple course with the driver blindfolded and getting instructions from the navigator. These events are usually run in conjunction with a picnic or other event.

Social Events -- In addition to the many driving events and learning opportunities, ATA also hosts social events for members, including a summer picnic, annual awards banquet, pot luck suppers, parties and museum tours.
