The Berryhill Retrievers Story

We started Berryhill Retrievers in 1987 with one Golden Retriever named Cinnamon. It wasn't Berryhill Retrievers then; Linda had always loved dogs and simply wanted to have a litter of puppies. We were surprised at the demand there was for purebred Golden Retrievers! One litter led to another, and soon it had turned into a small business in which the entire family could participate. As a stay-at-home mom homeschooling the children, Linda found that she could combine her passion for beautiful dogs with the ability to work at home. And of course all the kids were pressed into service as well! Through the years, all five of the Hise children have done their share helping to take care of the family dogs — whether that meant cleaning up after them, delivering puppies, cleaning up after them, helping to housetrain the puppies, cleaning up after them, or training several of the dogs through the 4-H dog obedience program. Did we mention cleaning up after them? Sometimes it gets a little hectic with all the litters and lots of "puppy people" coming to the house to adopt a new member of their family. On one occasion we had three litters delivered in one week! But the busyness is always worth it. Our dogs are part of our family, and we're thrilled to see our puppies become part of yours.
