This is one of the most satisfying photographs I have ever captured. Mainly because it does everything I wanted it to do. These boats were caught between brief showers in Venice, hence the blue cockpit covers. Initially I shot it as a standard 35mm but saw it more as a softly-hued linear painting on canvas. Working with contrasts and colors and high definition scanning I caught the scene I imagined. Embedded in the print is the faint texture of its background canvas supporting the painted textures of the scenic. This graphic is purposely cropped for linear display over a futon, table or couch in that studio apartment, adding a unique touch of the Venetian waterfront with its shapely gondolas briefly resting between showers.
