DIVING OFF THE BEATEN TRACK
ISBN: 1881652033

Veteran diver and journalist Bob Burgess takes you off the heavily traveled dive route to his pick of the very best low-key dive resorts and live-aboard dive boats in the Caribbean and Bahamas. Here is diving in places more the way they were before generations of divers claimed them. These are not highly publicized glitzy destinations, but if you want to dive shipwrecks little explored, see reefs and tropical fish that have seen few divers, and visit the less explored depths of the Bahamas and Caribbean, then this book tells you about the best of them. "Even if you can't get away, Burgess' writing style will fire your imagination and put you there."--Florida Scuba News "...this book belongs in the ditty bag of every serious scuba lover." --Newsday "Burgess delivers these boats and destinations in words and pictures, making me want to board a plane today and head to the clear Caribbean waters."--Travel Books Review 198-pages Paperback 7 x 10, Over 90 color photographs and maps © 1995 AquaQuest Publications.

FROM THE BOOK:

"The low-angled sunlight was sending golden shafts through the water when we reached the drop-off and turned right along the crest of the wall. We purposely traveled at our lowest speed to enjoy more of the scenery. Visibility looked to be well over 100 feet. The water to our left was a palette of blues ranging from light turquoise at the surface to the rich royal blue of the depths. The wall now was a study in variations with ledges, overhangs and vertical drops... At first we snaked on and off the crest, then began slow dives and climbs. It was easy to flip over and fly sideways to look under balconies and overhangs. At one point we were both turning carefree loops and barrel rolls through the sky-blue water as the marine scenery whirled around us - slow-motion "aerial" acrobatics without fear of falling."
