Full version (Sequencer Playpen.maxpat): To be used with the full version of MAX/MSP 5. All modifications to presets and coll objects will be automatically saved when the main program is saved. Everything can be opened, copied, and modified. This version will probably not be made available to the public.
In all versions, the MIDI setup is fully available, so you can configure it to your specific synthesizer setup.
MACINTOSH, SYSTEM, HARDWARE, ETC SETUP
The Sequencer Playpen is optimized for Macintosh System 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Mac screen resolution for the Sequencer Playpen best set at 1280 x 800 with a Macintosh 17 inch screen. Place the Sequencer Playpen file anywhere in your Macintosh computer. MAX/MSP is not necessary (although greatly encouraged). At the very least, I suggested that the user download the MAX/MSP Runtime aplication in order to get at the extensive help files which go into detail about the areas that we use, such as presets, tables, colls, MIDI setup, etc. Click or double click on the Sequencer Playpen file. The opening window contains the guts of the program – the engine room, so to speak. To get to the controls, double click on the CONTROLS page. This is where you will be creating.
MIDI Setup: Under the file menu, open the Midi Setup. Although your specific instruments will vary, you need to know one thing – all the notein and noteout (as well as ctlin, ctlout, pgmin and pgmout, etc.) objects are configured for the “a” abbreviation, so you must so designate the appropriate synthesizer (s) accordingly in the MIDI Setup in MAX/MSP 5.
DSP setting: Under the edit menu, make sure that the Overdrive is checked. This will greatly enhance the timing of MIDI events.
