Frances Walker for Selectman
Frances Walker Dear Friends in Freedom,

On Friday, March 9, 2012, the Town of Freedom will elect a new selectman. I am on the ballot for that position, and I’m counting on your vote.

I have lived in Freedom for 39 years, in a century old farmhouse on Pleasant Street, not far from the Town Office. Some of you who have your own children now may remember my puppet shows at Mount View or at Freedom Field days. If you’ve eaten a Pie Cone™ at the Common Ground Fair in the last several years, you might know that they are made right here in Freedom.
In 1997 I created the Web Site for the Town of Freedom as a volunteer public service and have maintained it ever since. I have also been the Director of Literacy Volunteers of Waldo County and have the skills to run an organization for the benefit of citizens not stockholders.

I lead an active life (especially with my two toddler grandchildren nearby), and now, I want to give back to the town that I love. I want to use the business and organizational skills I have acquired from long experience and use them to work fairly, honestly and effectively on the important issues that Freedom faces each day.

What is my platform? To listen to and understand all points of view, to put differences aside, to carefully weigh all the facts before making decisions that will affect all of you —my neighbors. I have always lived my life that way, and I promise to put all people who live here, first.

A selectman’s position is demanding and comes with lots of responsibility. I hope you will support my goal — to apply my energy, skills and commitment, to a good job for our town. I’d love to talk with you personally, to hear your concerns and questions. You can email me at:
