The LIONWITCH PUPPET THEATER is the creation of Frances Silenzi of Freedom, Maine. She makes the puppets, writes the scripts, and is the voice and movement of the entire cast. Silenzi has traveled throughout Maine and other parts of the Northeast performing and giving puppetry workshops, demonstrations, and residencies. A graduate of New York University with an M.A. in English, she studied with director Brian Way (author of Audience Participation Theatre for Young People). She also received grants to participate in a special program for professional puppeteers at the International Puppetry Institute in France. She has also given many workshops for teachers and other puppeteers. One hands-on workshop, Puppetry and Poetry, was given at a Northeast Regional Festival of Puppeteers of America.
