2007 History
Projects in 2007
During winter 2006-2007 came up with a name finally, "the Groves of the Greene Man's Denne." During May added web pages for the Groves to the Down East Pagan podcast website. Released information about the availability of the Groves for use by Pagan groups and individuals to the Maine Pagan Clergy Association and a few other e-groups. Continually, almost daily for a while there, added to and updated the web pages about the Groves.
Removed brush and old barbed-wire fencing from all along the stone wall to clear "Tenting Area A" to prepare it for use. Widened "Tenting area B" towards the property line. Transplanted the two pines from the center of the Journey Grove to other places. Widened the areas of some of the Groves by removing some more dead wood and brush (which more than doubled the area of Unnamed Grove #5). Moved (rebuilt, basically) the Fire Pit at the Fire Circle northwest a couple of yards in order to reduce the amount of leveling to be done, and to increase the Circle's diameter. Installed a retaining wall of old tires along the lowest side of the Fire Circle and began dumping fill to level the Circle area. Spread some fill into a number of small low-spots where the wheelbarrow kept getting hung up.
Added a 10' x 10' screen tent. Installed taller poles holding up the solar lights along the entryway path. Bought a trailer for the tractor, to make hauling stuff around a WHOLE LOT less exhausting, both for myself and the volunteers at work, and for the guests arriving and departing. Obtained a child-sized park bench for the little ones. Bought a new Toro walk-behind mower to augment the ancient John Deere tractor.

Volunteers
Members of Clan SamhainDell helped with cutting back the brush, removing old barbed-wire fencing, transplanting trees, digging out the Fire Circle side of Wood-Splitting Hill and moving the Fire Pit as part of the leveling project, digging out the new fire pit for the Sweat Lodge, and splitting a lot of firewood. Nero, WOW! are you some kind of workaholic? Smitty, thanks with the tractor, I'm no motorhead.
Thanks to Bob and Bea for their help in clearing the brush from what will be "Tenting Area A."
