In The Beginning

It's extremely important that you purchase an AKC registered cavalier.  It's also important that you research the background of the puppy or dog you want to purchase, and its breeder. AKC is not an automatic guarantee of a good breeder.

It's very easy for a poor quality breeder who mistreats their cavaliers, and raises poor quality puppies, to hide behind a beautiful website.  Often the puppies pictured were not even bred by the person doing the advertising. If you see any of the pictures on this website displayed elsewhere, please report it to me!

The conditions in many commercial breeding facilities are unspeakably bad. Dogs are kept in tiny cold cages, bred way too often, and once the parents are too old for breeding, they are drowned, clubbed to death, or electrocuted.

Often breeders who do not have AKC registration have lost their registration privileges.  They may also be breeding stolen dogs.  There are many places to get meaningless registration papers, so be sure to get AKC.  Another registry that would be acceptable is CKCSC-USA, but don't be fooled by other meaningless documents.

Please don't be fooled into thinking you should rescue a puppy from a puppy mill. Someone will buy that puppy. If there wasn't someone to buy all the puppy mill puppies then the owners would get a different kind of business. Buying those puppies only supports that kind of abusive treatment of dogs. The more popular cavaliers get, the more this kind of abuse will go on.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL.
