*Jondra DMC Suncatcher
NACHR 768-D
born May 5, 2003
*Suncatcher, or
*Sun, is a 7 year old gelding bred at the farm of Andrea and John Schaap in
Englehart, Ontario. He is by their late stallion *Dig My Curl, NACHR 13-D
and out of a registered Paint mare, Lightning Fire; so he is
"only" half-Curly. However, *Sun is fully curly in attitude, being
easy-going, people oriented, and pretty "ho-hum" about all the Monsters
available to spook a horse.
*Suncatcher, a very pale Palomino (or
Isabella Palomino) did not inherit the major white that both his sire and dam
carried. He did, however, inherit size, as you can easily see in these
pictures.
*Sun stands about 15.1H and weighs around 1100 pounds. *Sun also has much larger feet and they are quite healthy, strong and thickly walled.
*Sun has had only about 50-60 hours under saddle, so we still consider him "green broke". We had purchased him, as we did Z Silken, to participate in an expansion here, which due to the collapse of our building in 2008 did not happen. Since then he has only been hanging around. (Please note that the photo on the right was taken during a Christmas card photo shoot. None of us regularly ride without a helmet, nor do we promote doing so.)
In September 2008, Guin took him to his first horse show. He was a little concerned and didn't like his buddy *Jack to be too far away from him, but after his first class in the ring he began to settle down. Although Guin did not place in that Equitation class, the judge did comment positively about her ability to handle a distracted horse. After that, in the next two classes (Pleasure and Costume) he managed to be calm and listening enough that he received second place ribbons!!
We feel that *Sun would do best with a larger, calm rider who is looking for a trail buddy. He is curious about his surroundings, and with a good leader will explore places easily.
*Suncatcher
is for sale, and being wasted just hanging around our farm. If you are interested please contact us.
We have been asking $4500 because he does have training, and is an easy going boy, but the price is negotiable for the right home.
