Glory Two

*Glory, born in April 1988, was bred by Joe Mead.  She is by *Colonel Austin out of *Colorado Velvet.  Through her dam, she has extensive Quarter horse breeding, going back through Peter Star to Peter McCue.  For those who follow QH breeding in the Curlies, *Glory's dam was a Fredell-bred mare, making *Glo one of the few mares left with Fredell lines.   This picture at left was taken by our good friend Isabelle Checroune of Ranch Namaspamoos in Quebec.

*Glory has had eight foals, one of whom, *SS Clooney,  now resides in Austria!  Although, *Glory has proven to be a good “babysitter” with both *Ra and *Sage, we did not purchase her to have another broodmare.  *Glory came to us with both saddle and harness training, and we had fully intended to “tune her up” in both venues.   However, we discovered that *Glory has a "bad back", particularly in the lumbar region.  She has been seen by a chiropractor/vet who has adjusted her, but after much consideration, we have decided that *Glory will be just who she is until we are ready to get her tuned up in her driving training and can purchase a cart for fun driving in the hay field.

We have found *Glory to be a wonderful mare; kind, gentle, and human oriented.  The longer she is with us, the more loving and attentive she becomes.  A wonderful benefit from our move to Marshfield was that *Glory decided to bond with us.  We think that she may have thought she was going somewhere else when she boarded the trailer for the move here, but that when she discovered that she was with the same horses and same people in the new place, she knew she was really "home".  Is this anthropomorphizing?  Perhaps, but we know that her whole attitude has changed toward us, and she happily comes to us every time we approach the fence or are in the pasture.

*Glory has been with us since September of 2003, having come from British Columbia all the way to Vermont.

Below is an example of her winter curls.
