About our Food Offerings
At the Belfast Farmers' Market, we sell a number of food products that we prepare ourselves using the finest ingredients we can find. These are food items that we eat. We eat carefully since we consider that the most effective way to maintain optimum health has much to do with what you eat. If we do not eat it, we do not sell it.
For many reasons we opted, a long time ago, to eat whole, living foods. We prepare our table using whole ingredients. From scratch. We eat no manufactured or processed foods. We do not eat refined carbohydrates, only whole, complex ones.
We follow a meat–free diet — a vegan — diet for ourselves. We use no animal products, by–products or derivatives. The reasons for this have to do with ethical concerns, animal cruelty, health promotion and maintenance, environmental and sustainability issues.
We sell a range of products: hummus, tempeh, miso, a variety of dips and spreads, lacto–fermented foods, dessert treats, and because our pet ducks, most of them rescued, insist on laying eggs, we sell duck eggs when available. Ana hasn't given up hope of convincing our lady ducks not to lay. But our ducks are an emancipated people and they don't take orders from anybody. Certainly not from the "staff".
