About our Hand–Crafted Wood Products
For many years, Roy has been fascinated by the beauty of wood, the uniqueness of every piece of wood, from species to species, and within the same branch of a tree. Wood is warm, it is alive.
 Sadly, trees everywhere are under tremendous pressure, from building materials, from clear cutting, from poaching. The overriding ethic for someone who wants to work with wood has to be conservation. Use wood sparingly, avoid woods that are under threatened status, and never use wood that is poached.
The solution is to use only wood that has been responsibly harvested, preferably by someone you know personally, or, better yet, use wood remnants from other woodworkers. The items Roy makes are made using wood from our own forest, from trees that fall down in a windstorm. Many pieces come from found treasures in our firewood pile. Yes, we heat partly with wood, but use a highly efficient wood stove. It uses far less wood than other stoves, and then burns the smoke so that emissions are minimal. And we dress warmly, even indoors. Conservation at work here too.
Every piece Roy makes, is made by hand, painstakingly carved and woodturned, sanded, polished with safe materials. No toxic chemicals are ever used.
