Magic Ronaldo was foaled in Oldenburg in 1995, a son of the hallmark dressage stallion Rubenstein I. Rubenstein I is an exceptional dressage competitor and in addition, has sired more than 75 approved sons, including Rohdiamont. Relevant, and Magic Ronaldo. Magic Ronaldo's dam line is one of the strongest in the Oldenburg registry.
Magic Ronaldo was the Champion of the stallion selection competition in Oldenburg in 1999. In the formal stallion performance tests at Neustadt/Dosse, he was ranked 5th of the 47 stallions for dressage ability and 7th overall. He participated in the KWPN's stallion evaluation in Ermelo in 2001. The jury's comments were: Ronaldo is an honest, reliable stallion. The stallion is more than sufficiently willing to work and he works well. The walk is pure and has sufficient scope. The trot has sufficient scope. The stallion has sufficient self-carriage, sufficient impulsion and sufficient suppleness. He brings the hindleg under the body well. Ronaldo has sufficient scope in the canter. He has good balance. His changes are sufficient to much talent for for dressage and gives his rider a more than sufficient to good feeling.
As a breeding stallion, Magic Ronaldo has made a great impression in the Netherlands. Many of his offspring have been sold to prominent dressage training programs and are expected to have a big impact on the sport in the coming years. In 2001, foals by Magic Ronaldo garnered the highest sales prices at auctions in Drachten and Weert. In 2003, a stallion foal by Ronaldo exceeded the sales price record in the Netherlands.
