James Youngblood was born between 1740-1745 and first appears on record in Chatham, (earlier Orange) County, North Carolina, where he served in the militia during the Revolution. He later moved to Edgefield County, South Carolina, where he died in 1792. The eldest son of James and wife, Mary, was Jeremiah Youngblood, born 1765 in Orange County, North Carolina. He married Susannah Birgit and lived in Edgefield County, South Carolina, until moving to Jackson County, Tennessee, where he enlisted for service in the War of 1812. He died in that war in 1814, leaving his wife, Susannah, two daughters and seven sons. This book follows each of the seven sons and their descendants. Extensive documentation is given for the first four generations with the remaining generations represented by their vital data. Maps, documents, numerous family photographs, and a chapter on the Civil War years and those of the Youngblood heritage who served therein makes this a well done and valuable book.
