Featured for May: Valentines

This selection of large Valentines dates from the early 1900's.

"Thus to me forever thou art" This one is a hand-painted scene with a diecut pasted on:

"Love's Greeting" This has rolls of paper, and another diecut:

This features a fold-out valentine, and swirls of hand-painted red cellophane.

This has three pink embossed layers:

Here are two German diecut & honeycomb valentines:

And this one is just fabulous. The material has likely faded, picture it a lovely pink....

And it is a fold-out with so many features - 8 different layers, one with a net fence. A bird that appears to be hovering (attached with a small strip of clear plastic). A deer hiding behind that fence, a fountain, and even painted detail on the floors. The photos do not do this one justice.
